Disaster Alert: August 4, 2022

Floods caused by heavy rainfall were reported on August 1, 2022 across the Central Province of Sri Lanka, resulting in casualties. Schools in the impacted area have been closed for the time being. Train services and road transportation were also disrupted. Red flag warnings for heavy rainfall and strong winds have been issued for August 3rd and 4th across central-western and southern Sri Lanka, including the affected districts. Our Child Development Centers (CDCs) in Hatton cluster are heavily affected by the weather conditions. Our CDC facilitators are working closely with CDCs to gather details of the affected participants and households. We plan to provide essential support by closely monitoring the situation. Please rest assured that we will notify you as soon as possible if your child is affected in any way.

Please pray for the affected participants and their families.
