Goats

In the Mukono region of Uganda, few families have the resources to eat more than one meal each day. The vast majority of families work on small farms and earn less than $2 a day. As Compassion staff surveyed the vast needs of the children served there, they wondered how they could provide sustainable help for families. And because of friends like you, they were able to request goats for 100 families in the community. Owning livestock meant families would have access to milk, which they could both feed to their children and sell in their local markets. Compassion provided the goats as well as training and the resources to build small stables for them. Children are now working alongside their caregivers and learning how to feed and milk their small herds. The hope for these families is that they will breed the goats and within a few years triple the size of their herds!
