How Can I Help the Children Who Need Help?
Children and youth living in poor communities need safe places to live and play. They need social development and education. They need protection from people who want to take advantage of them. And they need caregivers who see them for who they are, love them, and invest in their long-term development.
Through our Child Sponsorship Program, babies, young children, and teenagers are loved and served by their local church. These Christians help the children cope with difficult life circumstances, help provide health care and mental health services, and enrich each child's life by providing social, educational, and spiritual development.
We work in partnership with local churches because the local church is best suited to address the needs of the children in its community. The local church is already located in and involved in the community and is best positioned to effectively deliver the Jesus-based teaching and whole-life care that children in poverty need and deserve.
You can help children by making a financial contribution to meet critical needs or sponsoring a child today.
How Does Child Sponsorship Help Children?
Through our Child Sponsorship Program we address every major aspect of a child's well-being, every element that he or she needs to survive, develop and thrive. We work to address each child's spiritual, economic, social and physical needs.
Through monthly financial support, prayer, and letter writing, sponsors invest directly in the lives of a child needing help. The child attends a child development center at a church in the community where he or she receives life-changing opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach, and which build on, add to, and extend the lessons taught in school.
All Compassion-sponsored children have the opportunity to develop their God-given potential and be released from the poverty that has trapped their families for generations.
The sponsor-child relationship is supported and strengthened by the local church that directly serves the child. Through the relationship with the local church, the child is equipped to confront the lies poverty constantly speaks.
The children supported by their sponsors and helped by the church learn their true value and worth through:
- LOVE that unlocks the potential within their hearts
- EDUCATION to provide knowledge and critical skills for future success
- FOOD AND NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS to strengthen their bodies and minds and help them thrive
- HEALTH CARE to fight disease and sickness
- CHRIST-CENTERED GUIDANCE to overcome fear and hopelessness
- RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES to protect from crime and violence and provide a shelter from danger
